6. How is the disease diagnosed?

This disorder is diagnosed by a testing program. They can look at the genetic change or mutation that leads to this disorder. Then a sample of the child’s blood will be taken so they can test for the Progeria gene. This disorder normally appears around 12 months, and then they will see rapid aging in the child. So they should be tested around 12 months or even before.
