A Genetic Counselor is someone who spends time researching about genetic disorders and how they run in the family. Then they help provide information about the disorder to families and individuals who need it. They inform you about the risk for you and for other family members, and help the individual make medical and personal decisions. They would also help you with what type of testing or research trials would be needed in their situation. Genetic Counselors are health professionals who must specialize their education in counseling and medication.
